We are a tea-garden type restaurant in a magnificent setting on the outskirts of Greytown in the mist-belt of the KwaZulu-Natal Midlands with a wonderful view of the farmlands across the valley as far as the eye can see.

We are open 7 days a week until 4:30 serving breakfast, tea and lunch from a comprehensive menu with blackboard specials to add variety.

There is a lot to do for the whole family as we have a maze, wendy house, jungle gym, sandpit, kiddies slide, swing and plenty of space for the kids to run around.

For travellers, Tranquili-tea is at least an hour away from your next decent stop whichever way you are travelling. 

We have plenty of outside seating and space for social distancing and for the kids to run around in the fresh air.

Tranquili-tea offers a country outing off the beaten track at its very best making us a  must-visit destination in KwaZulu-Natal!

Menu

We have a comprehensive à la cart menu including wraps, tramezzinis, burgers, steaks, toasties, pizzas, salads and curry to die for. Time to time we offer blackboard specials to add variety.

Those with a sweet tooth, we have a variety of desserts, cakes, scones and muffins.

We have the well-known and popular Terbedore coffee brand on our drinks menu which includes a variety of coffees, teas, smoothies, shakes, cordials and the usual soft drinks.

All items can be taken away and we recommend that those in a hurry should phone to place their orders in advance. 

Platters

We offer sweet and/or savoury platters in various sizes but you are welcome to contact us to arrange a specific platter to be made up to suit your requirements. Please place your platter orders at least a day in advance to give us sufficient time to prepare it.

Functions

We have ideal facilities to host many kinds of functions from kiddies parties, birthday parties, baby showers, engagements,  small weddings and any other celebration. Please contact as well beforehand to discuss your particular requirements. Please note that we generally do not have functions on Sundays which we regard as quiet time.

Full Moon Boogie

We haven’t had a Full Moon Boogie for a while but plan to have one soon.

Saturday Trail

Join us every Saturday morning in the fresh country air at 8 am for our 5 km trail through the nearby shady forests. The trail is well marked with blue blocks and stones. There are plenty of shortcuts for those that can’t quite make 5 km.

Maze

Lose yourself in our maze which is more than 650 m² planted up with the indigenous Freylina Tropica. Take time out to wander through the maze and see whether you can reach the middle where we have a message tree for you to leave a note of love, philosophy or just fun. Please stay to the paths and do not push through the hedge as it will eventually destroy our maze.

Nursery

The Nursery closes at 4 pm during the week and at 1 pm on Saturdays and Sundays. If you see something that you would like when they are closed, please ask one of our staff to help you. Remember that they are not trained and might not know anything more than what is on the label. They have an invoice book and you will be able to pay them.
